Cycling for everyone: Attractive cycling networks

With the accompanying brochure Attractive Cycling Networks for the Cities and Rural Areas special programme, the federal government has presented guidelines for a modern cycling infrastructure. The idea: If cycling is safe, easy and comfortable for an 11-year-old child, cycling will be attractive for any other person. What is behind the federal government’s guidelines and how do those responsible in municipalities manage to successfully turn attractive cycling networks into reality?
