The German Cycling Prize
On 20 June 2023, the winners of the 2023 German Cycling Prize will be honoured at an awards ceremony in Frankfurt am Main. In total, 19,000 euros of prize money will be awarded in the categories “Infrastructure”, “Service & Communication” and “Most cycling-friendly public figure”.
The programme for the 2023 German Cycling Prize awards ceremony is as follows:
- Most cycling-friendly public figure in 2023: SC Freiburg; citation read by Oliver Luksic MdB, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport
- Infrastructure category: citation read by Oliver Krischer, Minister of the Environment, Nature and Transport of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia
- Service & Communication category: citation read by Tarek Al-Wazir, Minister of Economics, Energy, Transport and Housing of the Federal State of Hesse
This year’s prize for the most cycling-friendly public figure will be awarded to the first division football club SC Freiburg.
The German Cycling Prize is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) and the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle-friendly Cities, Towns and Districts in North Rhine-Westphalia (Arbeitsgemeinschaft fußgänger- und fahrradfreundlicher Städte, Gemeinden und Kreise in NRW e.V. – AGFS NRW). The competition is supported by the Cycling Industry Association (Zweirad-Industrie-Verband e.V. – ZIV) and the Service and Bicycle trade association (Verbund Service und Fahrrad e.V. – VSF).
