Tactical urbanism & fast deployment: quick win for liveable cities – The German Cyclists Association (ADFC)
Tuesday 04.00 – 05.15 pm / Block Side Event
More and more cities around the world want to increase their resilience to climate change and at the same time become more liveable for their populations. Barcelona, Paris, Milan, Memphis, Utrecht, and Berlin have all radically accelerated their processes for building cycle and footpaths and for completing their planned network of cycle lanes, using elements of fast deployment and tactical urbanism. Tactical urbanism refers to temporary and low-cost changes in public spaces; elements of fast deployment include infrastructure elements such as pop-up bike lanes, protected bike lanes, or modal filters and more agility in implementation. At the ADFC Side Event, we want to exchange ideas with international and national experts on how these elements are used.
